The challenge

Our client, a well-known name in UK retail, required an Employee Relations (ER) Manager to lead a strategic transformation of their ER function following a recent restructure. The role demanded a forward-thinking individual capable of shaping and elevating ER across the business, driving continuous improvement, educating internal stakeholders, and enhancing collaboration with external suppliers. Due to internal sensitivities, the search was conducted confidentially under an NDA.

What we delivered

We began with a comprehensive briefing session with the Hiring Manager to define the role’s scope and the ideal candidate profile. From there, we identified and engaged a targeted pool of candidates who matched the strategic and operational requirements. Initial outreach was handled discreetly to maintain confidentiality, allowing us to assess suitability while protecting sensitive information.

Weekly check-ins with the client ensured transparency and alignment throughout the process. These sessions provided a platform to share progress, review candidate feedback, and refine the search criteria collaboratively.

Outcomes

Luminos presented five high-quality candidates, all of whom were invited to first-stage interviews. We also shared insights on other candidates who didn’t progress, reinforcing our consultative and partnership-led approach. Following strong feedback, three candidates advanced to the second stage, with one standout individual and the insights from our process delivered long-term value to the business.
