Sector: Engineering

Location: Asia-Pacific (APAC)

The challenge

Our client is a global engineering company specialising in a particular type of engineering. They were going through some changes in the Asia Pacific region and needed to hire a new lead for the region. At first the opportunity was confidential as there were some internal sensitivities. In addition, there were some internal candidates who would need to be considered as part of the process. The purpose of our research was to uncover external candidates and to provide an analysis of whether they would be a better fit than the internal talent.

What we delivered

We spoke to the key stakeholders involved in the process to gain a thorough understanding of the overall situation and the requirements for the role. We looked to understand what was missing from the internal talent pool and the key points for attracting talent.

We then identified relevant candidates within the region who met the requirements in the brief, using a range of research techniques. We then engaged, initially confidentially, with the most relevant individuals within the talent pool and looked to engaged them in the process.

We worked with our client to manage the confidential nature of the process, using an NDA and then introducing the candidates at relevant moments.

Outcomes

Our research uncovered a number of candidates who were interviewed alongside the internal candidates. One of the external candidates that we introduced was hired into the role and has recently started his position.
