The challenge

Our client, a private equity company, had recently acquired a new business within their portfolio and knew that they needed to strengthen the leadership team. The business was in an unknown sector for them, so they needed some guidance and were unaware of key players in the market.

They wanted market intelligence about the key competitors in the sector for this business, as well as some insight into the structures of leadership roles, so that they could compare this to what they wanted to propose within their new acquisition.

What we delivered

We took a thorough briefing to understand the context and requirements, as well as agreeing a process. We then did some initial research to understand the key competitors within the sector, and to uncover the role structures for the leadership level. We then presented back to show the client how they should structure the role they wanted to go to market with, as well as providing some preliminary information about candidate availability.

We agreed a role profile, and carried out detailed identification, followed by candidate engagement.

Outcomes

We worked closely with our client throughout the process to guide them, and to provide them with market intelligence given they were not as familiar with this industry. We presented them with a shortlist of relevant candidates to consider and helped them with candidate management, to placement of the successful candidate.

During the process, we were also able to help them to understand the wider talent pool and more about key competitor strategies. We were also able to introduce them to a handful of candidates that they wanted to stay in touch with for subsequent roles and potentially subsequent acquisitions.
